Even on a small plot the dream home can be built for a couple in Iasi. Well past their 40s with their children already at their own homes, the couple’s desire was to move from a downtown apartment to a house, somewhere on the city’s suburbia, where they own a 280sqm plot.

Uncertain whether the project can be achieved on a plot so small or not, they turned to root studio. The proposed concept covers all their desired needs unfolded on two levels, with a total usable area of ​​about 90sqm. Since the entrance to the plot is connectthe to the main road, the concept was to cover the street noise off the courtyard but also to have privacy by position the house as a screen between the two. The house has the main facade opened towards the courtyard and is almost opaque to the street.

The courtyard is defined by a portico that creates an atrium that has a storage facility, a dining & leisure area, a bar and a lounge area.

The interior is thought functionally compact: the ground floor is a 30sqm multifunctional space comprising the living room, kitchen and dining area. There’s also a small bathroom and a technical room for the heater and the washing machine. The 2nd floor accommodates a master bedroom with dressing room, a bathroom with shower, a guest bedroom and a storage room.
